Passaic Public Schools


Passaic Public Schools has a diverse student body, with the ethnicity of students on October 13, 2017 being Hispanic/Latino 13,514 (92.33%); Black 655 (4.47%); Asian 257 (1.76%); Pacific Islander 19 (0.13%); White 179 (1.22%); American Indian 9 (0.06%); Other 4 (0.03%). There were also a total of 7,618 (52.05%) male students and 7,019 (47.95%) female students. Of this total student population, 1,978 (13.51%) represent special education students and 3,455 (23.6%) represent Limited-English Proficient (LEP) students. Read more…

Passaic Public Schools is classified an ‘”A” district in the New Jersey Department of Education’s District Factor Groupings (DFG). District Factor Grouping (DFG) is a system of ranking schools by socioeconomic status. The group designations are based on information from census data and include the following: income, poverty, unemployment, percent of population with no high school diploma, percent of population with some college, occupations, and median family income. City of Passaic


The City of Passaic is located in the southeastern portion of Passaic County, New Jersey. Its 3.2 square miles of land area contain mixed industrial, commercial, and residential land uses developed at a population density of 22,181 persons per square mile. According to the United States Census Bureau, Passaic has an estimated population of 71,085 in 2015 (2010 Census – 69,781). Currently, Passaic is almost totally developed. Read more…

The vision of Passaic Public Schools is to become the best urban school system in the state of New Jersey. During the 2015-2016 school year, Passaic Public Schools continued its mission to provide an excellent education that prepares our students for college and to earn high paying jobs. The district has made an effort to focus on providing every student the opportunity to graduate from high school with a career certification and/or a minimum of fifteen college credits. Across grade levels, Passaic Public Schools sets rigorous goals and high expectations for all students.

The district continuously evaluates its Information Technology assets and proactively upgrades or replaces obsolete items. In addition to end-user devices, the district invests in its network and cloud infrastructure and Internet access and security to provide access to online learning platforms and assessments such as the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) and Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC). Focus on Community


Passaic Public Schools is determined and motivated to increase parental involvement district-wide. Various workshops and classes were strategically planned and conducted to help parents assist their children succeed academically and socially.
